First Presbyterian Church has two worship services on Sunday morning in the sanctuary. A contemporary service featuring our Praise Band and Singers is at 9:00 o'clock. If you prefer a more traditional service, then come to the 10:45 o'clock service. Worship services last about one hour. Communion is served at both services on the first Sunday of each month. Accessibility for the disabled It is our aim that no person, regardless of a disabling condition, be denied access to -- and full enjoyment and participation in -- all of our services and activities. Amplification devices are available during worship services for those with impaired hearing. Our church buildings, and restroom facilities, are fully accessible to those in wheelchairs and those who might otherwise have difficulty climbing stairs. Please call 909.982.8811 for information about the specific location of ramps. return to top of pageChild CareGod's children of all ages are encouraged to share in this experience of worship. Parents who prefer to use our nursery services may take their children (infants through 3 years of age) to Room 111, located on the ground floor of the education wing. The Sonshine Center is professionally supervised. If you need to stay with your child, the Garden Room is available. The service is broadcast through a speaker located in the southwest corner of the narthex. Hearing Impaired EquipmentWe now have four units to assist individuals who can use some assistance in hearing during the worship service. These units will be in the drawer at the bottom of the table to the right of the front door. There is a clipboard on the table. Sign your name when you check out a unit. Record the number of the hearing assisted unit. Return the unit to the bottom of the drawer after the service. Special Services Advent and ChristmasOn the four Sundays before Christmas, and throughout the weeks in between, First Presbyterian Church celebrates the coming birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Advent services, which are a beloved tradition in this church, include sacred music of the season and lighting of advent candles On Christmas Eve, we have two services: for the church family at 7:30; and at 11:00, a candle light and communion service of lessons and carolswith youth and chancel choirs and orchestra. return to top of pageDuring Lent, we move toward Easter and celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The week before Easter, we have services each day at noon, with a light lunch following. Then, on Maundy Thursday, we remember Jesusą last supper by sharing communion in small groups at the homes of church members. We culminate our Lenten observance in the shadows of a candle-lit Tennebrae service on the evening of Good Friday. On Easter Sunday, in every service we joyfully celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. return to top of pageFirst Presbyterian Church of Upland provides a beautiful, sacred setting for weddings. All those who wish to become married in a ceremony in the church must complete a series of discussions with the pastor who will perform the ceremony. With the permission of the Session, a guest pastor may perform the service.
